Hitching a Ride

We were pulling into a convenience store parking lot when Liz noticed a distinguished looking gentleman standing out in front. His knife-creased trousers, black overcoat, and cane made him look out of place as he kept his eyes fixed on the parking lot entrance. As I was about to comment to Liz about what an interesting photo it would make (taking a Photo a Day continues to influence me), he saw the car he was looking for and his face relaxed. Then he put one leg in front of the other and raised it from the ground slightly and pulled up the leg of his trousers so that his ankle was showing, reminding me of Claudette Colbert in the movie It Happened One Night when she claims to Clark Gable that she can stop a car without using her thumb. His wife was grinning as she parked the car next to him.
