- Lethargy. Let's be honest and get this one out of the way first. When all the planets align and the reasons further down this list don't happen to be a problem at the moment, it can sometimes be too much of an effort to write.
- Work. Between the commute and the hours I am at work and the emotional energy wasted by wishing I had a different job, work exhausts me. I am investigating switching my certification to a different area, which is a blog post for another time.
- Youngest daughter. I thought of only putting the general heading of "Parenting," but his child deserves a heading all her own. Even though she has been in day care/ preschool for the same number of hours that she is now in kindergarten, the demands on her are different and catching up to her-- which means they are catching up to all of us. She won't rest at Rest Time, although it is obvious to me that as the weeks go on it would do her much good. She comes home tired but refusing to believe that she is tired. This makes her overreact to everything. Asking her to change out of school clothes before getting her snack results in her shouting how she hates me. It is actually easier for me to handle her behavior because it is so extreme and obviously coming from how worn out she is.
- Homework. The first week of school brought a mountain of homework. A few people talked to the English/History teacher and The Boy has been getting less homework as of late, although she is giving more "thinking" homework than they are used to-- inferring things from the text, for example. (She gets a lot of, "But the answer isn't on page 46 like it's supposed to be!") Eldest Daughter is spending about 4 hours a night on homework. She says it's because she writes slowly and that I am NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to tell her teacher that I think it is too much work. ("Jordan's dad wrote a note that said he had 5 hours of homework and she said it in front of the whole class!") Although they are responsible for their own work and all that, there are times when they need me for questions.
- Housework. Although I don't do this as often as I should, sweeping, vacuuming, and cleaning the bathrooms take up some amount of time. And we do a load of laundry a day.
- Husband's schedule. Mr. Midnight is taking two classes, so he is out two nights a week and needs to do homework. He is also trying to pick up an overtime shift every week.
- Various and sundry activities. We have two soccer players. One child is starting Girl Scouts and one is starting Boy Scouts. We are looking for one to begin guitar lessons. We leave for church at 8:45 on Sunday and get home at 12:15. Random things keep coming up-- Open House at the kids' school, Open House at my school, closing on refinancing our mortgage (saving $200/month!), etc.

Hooray for the mortgage refinance! Now, don't blow it all on luxuries like food and toilet paper...
You're doing a great thing by supporting the family while your husband studies. You'll all benefit from it in years to come. And we'll forgive you for not posting every night.
4 hours of homework? What grade is she in again? If her class has major exams coming up, then fair enough, but otherwise that's way too much homework.
8th grade. According to Wikipedia, research supports 10-minutes of homework per grade level-- which would give her 1 hour and 20 minutes of homework.
Thursday night was better, homework-wise; hopefully the gung-ho-ness of the teacher is wearing off.
