One Paragraph on the Last Book I Read

For a myriad of reasons, some of which I don't understand, I have not been reading much lately. I usually read before falling asleep, but I've been more tired lately when I go to bed so that hasn't been happening. I have been reading many... uh... shorter books, though. One of the more memorable ones is Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten by Joseph Slate with illustrations by Ashley Wolff.

In this book, Miss Bindergarten takes her kindergarten class on a field trip to many places in one day. The class goes to a bakery, a fire station, a post office, a library, and finish the day with a picnic in the park. Each student's name starts with a different letter of the alphabet and the rhymes are delightful-- however the book is shockingly unrealistic. A group of over 20 five-year olds would be exhausted at the end of a field trip to any one of those places; I cannot imagine the crying and whining at the end of such a day. Besides that, the first four stops were apparently crammed in before lunch, making each visit incredibly rushed. Either that or Miss Bindergarten didn't let the kids stop for lunch and the picnic is their supper.

Realism aside, my kindergartener says, "It's a really fun book."
